What about the "X"?

Europeans in the 16th century started using "X" in the place of Christ's name as shorthand for writing Christ. The Christian monks and scholars were knowledgeable of the Greek letter "X", - Chi or Khi - which is the first letter in the Greek word "Christos" or "Kristos" (Greek: CristoV) The Greek and Hebrew word "Christos" comes out of "Messiah" and mean the same thing: "The Anointed One."


For many years the "X" was understood by Christian clergy and as time passed, many Christians, educated or not, were not aware of the meaning. Over time the meaning became lost and was later perceived as a sign of disrespect.

This time of year we see many companies and the "Drive-by" media display "Happy Holidays" on banners, ads, and promotions. Many people meet and greet with the same phrase as an all encompassing term to avoid the Christmas phrase all together in this "Politically Correct" world. Some people view the shorthand of writing and speaking "Merry X-mas" as a way to remove Christ from the Holy celebration in December. Even though the conception of the season is watered down, the truth remains, the Christmas seasons is indeed a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

Remember : Jesus is the reason for the season!

Now that IS change!

It took federal government from 1776 to 1990 to amass a $3 trillion dollar debt on it's taxpayers.  (I use taxpayers and not citizens because more and more citizens do not pay taxes, but do receive from the taxpayers of these United States of America.)

It ONLY took the obama regime 22 months to add another $3 trillion to the backs of the tax payers.  That is spending/borrowing on average, some where north of $136 billion per month.  That is mind, budget, and economy blowing.

Finacial Transaction Tax?!?

You've heard of this one, haven't you? Nancy Pelosi was sending out positive vibes at the end of last week ... positive, that is, if you like the idea of the Imperial Federal Government collect a 1% (initial) tax on all financial transactions ... any financial transaction at any financial institution.




You haven't heard about this? No surprise. There's an election coming you know. Democrats aren't fond of telegraphing their various tax schemes just before you go to the polls. My guess is that you'll hear plenty about this if the voters of this country somehow manage to leave the Democrats in power. Drudge did, however, run with a bit over the weekend wherein Nancy Pelosi indicated that the idea had merit. On December 4th of last year CNSnews.com ran with a story detailing Pelosi's endorsement of a "global" tax on stock trades and other financial transactions that she said at a news conference could bring in $150 billion annually.



So ... just in case you're actually thinking of voting, maybe this explanation will help you make up your mind.



A financial transaction tax would most likely start out at around 1%. If you made a $500 deposit into your savings account, $5 would go to Washington. If your employer automatically deposited you $1,845 paycheck into your account every two weeks, $18.45 would go to the federal government. That's what happens when your money goes INTO your account? But what about when it comes OUT? Well, that's another financial transaction, isn't it? Charge a $80 dinner for two to your Visa card, 80 cents to the government. Let's say your car payment is $390 per month. Every time you make that payment $3.90 goes to the government. Over 36 months this would amount to $140. Now remember .. you already paid income tax on this money ... and here comes another 1% going in, and 1% coming out.



Mention this to a Democrat ... and they will surely tell you that you are crazy, that they would never consider something like this. But hold on a minute ... you need to know that this idea of a financial transaction tax is very popular right now in Europe. Some have even proposed such a tax as a way to support the United Nations, and I've already told you about Pelosi's love for the idea. So ... do you feel lucky? Go ahead! Put your favorite Democrat back into office. Then you can react with amazement a few months down the road when the Democrats - still in power thanks to your efforts --- announce that something like a temporary transaction is going to be necessary to take care of our deficit. The truth, of course, is that if they got the tax it would not be used to cover the deficit ... it would just be more money for them to spend on their various vote-buying schemes. Temporary? Yeah, right. The only thing about this financial transaction tax that would be temporary would be the rate. Again ... how long would it take them to tell you that they just "had" to raise the rate to 2%, but just for a while, mind you .. just for a while until whatever crisis our dear leaders in Washington were dealing with passed.



Are you beginning to see what the stakes are here four weeks from tomorrow? We're not playing some video game here folks. The threat is real, and if you aren't on the front lines to fight these people I promise you that your children and grandchildren will damn you for walking away from this battle.

Budget Woes!

I think the next time I have more month at the end of the money, I will tell my wife I need and increase in my spending allowance.  When she tells my I need to cut my spending instead of expecting her to increasing the amount of my monthly allowance, I think I will pull a counter out of the Dumbocrat playbook.  I will simple explain to her that there is no room in MY budget for spending cuts!  What do you think?  Do you think I will survive?  Sounds stupid when you say it out loud, does it not?  Then why do we believe/swallow it why the Dumbocrats say it?

If it didn't happen to me......(An update)

Received a letter in the mail today from my student loan company informing me that a pre-payment of $885.00 had been made to my student loan and that I would not have to make another payment until July 2011, but that my interest would still accumulate on the outstanding balance.  No shit?  I wonder how long it will take these mental-midgets to figure out that I not only reversed the payments both times they tried to cash the erroneous check to their bank account, but I also sent them the correct check to make my payment for this month?!?

Give back - A phrase used to describe charitable giving: Primarily utilized to promote the idea that the money being contributed to the charitable cause was either taken by or given to the contributor rather than earned. The correct descriptive phrase would be "give."



Greedy - Describes one who seeks to make a profit from the sale of a service or product.


The Richest One Percent - Phrase used exclusively by leftist politicians to describe people who own and operate over 50% of the nations private small businesses; businesses which employ between 70 and 80% of all private-sector employees and which are creating 80% of all new private sector jobs. These people are not paying their fair share of taxes. (See next entry)


Fair Share of Taxes - That portion of a wealthy individual or business owner's gross income which the government must seize in order to reduce that person's net income to 80% that of the average middle class union worker.


Racism - The expression of any negative thought or an utterance, writing or action determined by the left to have been critical to any discernable degree of an individual who is not white.


Extreme, Out of the Mainstream - Any idea relating to or supporting a literal interpretation of the Constitution of the United States or promoting concepts of individual liberty and self reliance.


Hate Speech - Any speech, especially from conservative or libertarian talk show host, which criticizes any action undertaken by or concept promoted by a Democrat or liberal; or which promotes an idea or concept that cannot easily be refuted by liberals through the use of rational or fact-based arguments


Public Schools - A phrase used to describe schools owned and operated by the government, operating on government property, staffed by government employees, and operating under standards and principles established by government agents. The correct descript phrase would be "Government schools."


Comprehensive Immigration Reform - Legislation relating to border security and illegal immigration which provides for amnesty for illegals already residing and working in the United States and which takes only minimal steps to prevent millions more from crossing the border to take advantage of the next version of comprehensive immigration reform.


Undocumented Worker, Undocumented Immigrant, Migrant without Papers, Displaced Foreign Traveler, Undocumented Dweller - All phrases used to define illegal aliens; people who break the law crossing our border, break the law taking a job in the United States, and continue to break the law by staying here. These people should be referred to as Illegal Democrats.

If this didn't happen to me, I'm not sure I would have believed it.

Earlier this month, while paying bills, I accidentally put my rent check ($885) into my student loan envelope and my student loan check ($85) in my rent envelope and mailed them off with the rest of my bills.  Fast forward 3 days.  I receive a note on my door informing me of my mistake and that my rent is now late and that I now owe a $40 late fee on top of my rent and I can only pay my rent for this month with a cashiers check.  After I found the top of my head and calmed myself down I went to  the club house gym with my son to work out.  The manager had stayed late and saw me in the gym and told me to ignore the note about the late fee and cashiers check, since it was an honest mistake and they should have caught it earlier.  (I felt better, not any smarter, but better.)

While this was going on my wife was working nights in the ER.  One morning I get up and find that I have an email from her.  The email states that she looked at our bank account we pay bills with and that it is overdraw.  I can not for the life of my figure out why this is so.  Upon inspection of said account I quickly figured out why.  The check that I had made out for the rent but mailed to my student loan company had been drafted from my account after I replaced the check to the rent company.  Are you with me so far?  Yes that is correct.  The student loan company cashed the check that was not made out to them or for the correct payment amount. ($885 vs. $85)  Essentially a double dip in my account for rent this month.

So here we go.  First I called the student loan company.  After being on the phone for 15 minutes with an automated system and having to push one for English, I finally got to talk to a real person.  Just not the person I needed to talk to.  After being shuffled down though the chain of command, I finally reached my destination.  This woman, I'll call her that instead of what I'd like to call her, asks me 45 different questions about who I am and where I live so as to verify it is really me on the phone.  After which she asks "How my a assist you today?"  So I go through the entire story with her and explain that they have cashed a check that was not made out to them and was not for the correct payment amount and that I am now over drawn at the bank.  She informs me that it will take no less than 45 to 60 working days to have funds sent back to my account.  As she is looking at my account and I am making my protest through gritted teeth at this point she stops me in mid plea and informs me that the funds have in fact all ready been electronically transferred to my account and that there is nothing to be done.  Can't have my money back.  I state again that they cashed a check made out to another party and that I am now over drawn on the account because of this.  She simply stated that I would have to take that up with my bank and that she could not help me further in this matter but on the bright side I didn't have to make another payment on my student loan until July 2011 and that I should have a great day. (MELT DOWN!)

Next phone is to my bank.  I go through the entire story with my banker.  She can't believe they would not help me in any way so she tells me to go to my local branch at my earliest convenience and she will have paper work waiting for my signature.  Not to worry they would place funds in my account to cover the over draft until we had this all cleared up.  (Feeling some what better at this point, not any smarter but better.)

In between the bank phone call and going to sign the paper work at my local bank branch I had some major dental work done.  So I lost most of a day of productivity on this little endeavour.

A couple of days later I check my account and the check has been reversed and as instructed by my bank I sent a new check, with the correct name and amount filled in, to the student loan company. (Problem solved)

Now for the kick to the pills.  Friday afternoon rolls around and I receive a call from my bank.  Someone is trying to use my debt card at the WAL-MART in Brownsville, TX to the tune of $250.  I say that it is not me and answer some security questions about my account.  The guy at the bank shuts down the purchase and promptly cancels my debit card.  (Damn it!  What else can go wrong!)

Next phone call is to my banker to order a new debit card.  She was actually still at work on a Friday just before 5 pm.  While she is getting my new ordered she is looking at my account and she tells me that my account is overdrawn and would I like her to transfer some funds for me.  (Face and ass getting red)  I tell her that everything was just the way it should have been when I last checked the account.  She says "Well it appears that your rent check has cleared and you are now overdrawn by $75."  (Starting to think about going to the liquor store at this point)  So I log onto my account and look at the check that has cleared. 

Have you guessed what has happened yet?  No.  Well here it comes.  After my bank had the funds reversed back to my account from the check that the student loan company cashed that was not made out to them, they went ahead and sent it through manually and cashed the check a second time!  Hit my account twice with the same check that was not made out to them and was not for the correct payment amount and that I had called and made inquiry into not 3 days before!  Can you believe it?  Can you believe it?  I still can't and it happened to me and is still happening as I am typing this out.  Can't make anything happen until Monday when the bank reopens.  (Nerves shot!  Eyes, face and ass all red!)

Bill Glazer, marketing strategist and author of "Outrageous Advertising That's Outrageously Successful" wrote his book for 99% of small business owners who are dissatisfied with the results they get from their current advertising.  He summarizes his system in six points:

1. - Outrageous works.  Why it does is irrelevant.

2. - Outrageous works in any media for any product.

3. - People are bored and overwhelmed and want to be amused.

4. - People love outrageous advertising.

5. - Always be on the lookout for the next outrageous idea.

6. - Discover that outrageous advertising is the No. 1 most fun thing you will do.

And describes his system this way:

* More outrageous gets more attention.

* Know your audience; don't be offensive but never be boring.

* You can advertise really outrageously in some really outrageous places.

* You can be really outrageous without spending a lot of money by identifying opportunities you already have such as an on hold message, vehicles, signs, etc.

Manager: Don't worry. It's on us. ... (inaudible) ... Lower our taxes and we'll call it even.

Biden: Why don't you say something nice instead of being a smartass all the time? Say something nice.

 
 
So there you have it.  If you agree with higher taxes you are a "nice" subject, if you disagree then you are a "smartass"!

The 66th Anniversary of D-Day!

On this the 66th Anniversary of the Allied Invasion at Normandy.  I give you Franklin D Roosevelt the 32nd Presidents prayer for our troops on that fateful day.



My Fellow Americans:




Last night, when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our Allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far.



And so, in this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer:



Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.



Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.



They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph.

Who's the more foolish? The fool who leads or the fool that votes him into office?

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

10 tips to get a jump on the job search competition.

How do you know when your religion has become a fraud?  When Osama Bin Ladin latest audio rant has him joining in on your religion in global climate change.  Quite possible the greatest fraud to ever be perpatrated on man kind.  This fraud's only goal is to destroy capitalism, end of story.  How can you possble take anything remotely serious or be involved with it when your latest and greatest endorsement comes from the most wanted terrorist in the world.  In the tape Osama Bin Laden warns of the dangers of climate change and says the way to stop it is to:  "bring the wheels of the american economy to a halt.".

Can anyone name one thing this president has touched that he has not screwed up?  He has the anti-midas touch!  He has screwed up the economy, domestic security, foreign policy, and the list goes on and on.  All in the first year of his adminstration.  Now he wants to stick his nose in college football by starting a push for a play off system in place of the current BCS rating system.  It doesn't matter if you agree with the current BCS system or if you want a play off system to be implemented.  This guy can't be trusted to change the sheets on a bed much less run this great country.  Except maybe running it into the ground.  Please Mr President, for the love of God, leave my country and my football alone!
