Happy Birthday to a Good Ole' Boy!

The "The Balladeer" for the Ducks Of Hazard, Waylon Arnold Jennings was born today in 1937.

The self taught guitar player rose to prominence playing bass for Buddy Holly after the break-up of the crickets. He escaped death on Feb. 3, 1959 when he gave up his seat to the "Big Bopper" on that infamous airplane flight that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson.

In the 70's he became associated with an informal group of musicians the worked outside of the Nashville corporate scene, known as the "Outlaws".
